Welcome to 2014, where you are in charge of your technology!
Recently Larry was invited to speak at a meeting of a local computer club called PC Rams, specifically on how and why to build the best website possible. He shared the benefits of WordPress for small businesses and organizations. If youve heard of WordPress, you may think of it as blogging program. That is, it may ring a bell as something easy and free that people use to start a blog. Well, the same reasons that WordPress makes blogs easy, cheap, and popular are the reasons WordPress makes a business website awesome. Bloggers and business owners love WordPress for many of the same reasons: its easy to use once you do a bit of training; its inexpensive; it offers a huge variety of really attractive themes (a theme is basically a template with its own look, style, colors, etc); its easy to manage and update yourself (rather than paying someone else to); its secure; and search engines love it (which improves your presence on the internet).
If youre looking to establish (or improve) an online presence for your business, starting by creating an attractive website (complete with updated content) is a great idea. Then, you can drive people from Facebook and other social media outlets to your website; the fact that your site is current, relevant, and nice-looking means people will keep coming back. Think of it this way: introducing people to your business is like giving them your business card at a networking event. If you dont follow up (by having interesting, relevant, and timely content on your website), theyre likely to forget about you. WordPress makes it easy to establish your authority online and keep people engaged. Its one of those wonderful little tech secrets that can make your life a whole lot easier, and your business a whole lot more successful!
